How Bianca Ojukwu Can Singlehandedly Force Tinubu To Free Nnamdi Kanu
Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s life sentencing amid allegation of botched trial, has become an issue rattling the minds of the Ndigbos of the southeastern of Nigeria’s federation.
Mazi Nnamdi Kanu pitched himself against the Nigeria’s authority when his activism for good governance in Nigeria metamorphosed into a secessionist agitation.
The Biafra nation agitator through his now proscribed organization: the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), sought the restoration of the defunct Biafra nation due to allegation of unending and sustained marginalization of the Ndigbos in the Nigeria’s federation. Kanu cited an age-long conspiracy against the Igbos which culminated in the lack of major economic and commercial infrastructure in the region– a move aimed at keeping the region subjugated.
Mazi Nnamdi Kanu was in 2015 arrested by the Nigeria’s authority who accused him of treason and terr0rism. He was held in the Nigeria’s correctional facility for two years before being granted bail in 2017, two years after his arrest.
Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s case with the Nigerian authority took a sinister twist when Nigerian soldiers stormed his Afaraukwu hometown in Abia State and sh0t sporadically at Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s country’s home– this incident, led to Kanu escaping from the country following the military attack on him.
The agitator through his radio Biafra, broadcasted his message for the restoration of Biafra while abroad. Mazi Kanu was later renditioned in Kenya and forcefully returned to Nigeria where he was held in the facility of the Nigeria’s Secret Police Service.
Kanu’s Conviction, A Path To His Freedom
Following his conviction and sentencing by justice James Kolawole Omotosho, political and religious leaders from the southeast region and beyond, have suggested that Kanu’s recent court conviction was necessary for his release. The governor of his home state –Abia, Alex Otti did in his response to Kanu’s conviction, suggest that himself and other political leaders in the southeast region would initiate move to demand Kanu’s release from president Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He insinuated that while the appeal for Kanu’s release had been previously made to the president that the president cited Kanu’s trial, suggesting that his intervention would come at the end of the trial in court.
Kanu To Appeal His Conviction And Sentencing
Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has challenged the legality of his conviction and sentencing. According to his younger brother, Kanunta who visited him alongside with his lawyer in the Sokoto correctional facility where he has been relocated to, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu believes that the appeal court will upturn the decision of justice James Kolawole Omotosho. According to Kanu, he was convicted on a repealed law, contrary to the Nigeria’s constitution. Kanu also cited Justice James Kolawole Omotosho’s refusal for him to give his final written address as a breach of the court process in crimin@l trial. He is confident that the court of appeal will rule in his favour, thereby setting him free.
Hence, this implies that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is disinterested in presidential pardon as being speculated. The IPOB leader believes that he will regain his freedom through the court process.
The Place Of Biance Ojukwu In Kanu’s Freedom
Bianca Odumegwu Ojukwu who is the current minister of state for foreign affairs, is the wife of late Biafra nation wârlord, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, the penultimate leader of the defunct Biafra nation.
Speaking on the conviction and sentencing of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, her late husband’s protege, Bianca Ojukwu called for calm. She called for a meeting of the south east political, traditional and religious leaders necessary to discuss how Mazi Nnamdi Kanu can regain freedom through the president of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
While her opinion is valid, her suggestion is based on persuading president Tinubu to grant Kanu presidential pardon. A move the president will only agree to based on his political future. Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is widely disliked by the Northern Muslim Nigerians as well as supporters of late president Muhammadu Buhari due to his several unverified claims against the late president. Kanu had alleged that the late president Muhammadu Buhari had died while he was in power. He claimed that a clone of the president, a Sudanese, Jibril was used to replace the real president who had died.
As a result, president Bola Ahmed Tinubu who seeks reelection in 2027, will unlikely agree to free grant Kanu presidential pardon so as not to offend the northern Muslims.
But the president can be blackmailed into releasing Kanu
Recently, Bianca Ojukwu served as one of the delegates from the presidency to the US. Bianca Ojukwu alongside with other delegates met with the US officials and defended the president Tinubu’s glaring ineptitude in the face of rising insecurity in the country.
As wife of late Biafra leader, Bianca Ojukwu was strategically appointed as the minister of state for foreign affairs to serve as a viable tool against the Biafra nation interest. Her being wife to Ojukwu would validate the denialism of gen0cide in Nigeria and marginalization as the Biafra calling Igbos claim.
In this Tinubu’s cabinet in which Bianca Ojukwu is an integral member, Bianca Ojukwu concurs to the ongoing propaganda by the Tinubu’s administration against the Igbos and the IPOB– she concurs to the claim by her senior colleague, the minister of foreign affairs, Yusuf Maitama Tuggar that IPOB founded by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu whom she claims to be concerned about, is misinforming the US authority into believing that Christians are being targeted by Fulani Muslim militia in Nigeria. Bianca Ojukwu believes so and stands for it.
So Is Bianca Ojukwu A Hypocrite?
How can you be sympathizing with Mazi Nnamdi Kanu in public while also accusing him before the international community, the US of being mischievous– misinforming the US about the Nigeria’s security situation.
If Bianca Ojukwu truly wants Nnamdi Kanu to regain his freedom as she has speciously made Ndigbos to believe, she must not continue sabotaging him.
Hence, to seek Kanu’s release, Bianca Ojukwu should resign from the Tinubu’s cabinet, openly declared that your resignation is tied to the Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s ordeal. Tell the whole world about the ongoing propaganda by the Tinubu’s administration against Kanu. Call for the intervention of president Donald J Trump on the aggravating insecurity in the country.
Lead a protest of Igbo women to demand the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
