I have reflected deeply on how and where things went wrong, particularly regarding my role in supporting Asiwaju and orchestrating the Muslim-Muslim ticket that secured his victory, driven by massive votes from Nigeria’s North West region.

My initial intention was to retire peacefully and step away from the political spotlight, allowing other players to take the stage. However, during a meeting in Kaduna, in the presence of Arewa elites, Asiwaju persuaded me to pledge my intelligence and commitment to serve in his government.

As a patriotic Nigerian dedicated to transformative change, I accepted this call, aligning with my belief in progressive governance. He appointed me as a minister, and I underwent the mandatory senatorial screening as required by law. To my dismay, I was unexpectedly thrust into the spotlight at the National Assembly, subjected to public ridicule on national television, and made a caricature.

Asiwaju seems to forget that I inherited Buhari’s 12 million organic votes. By 2027, Insha Allah, we will show him the way out of Aso Rock.
