Final hours of Brig.-Gen. Uba: last transmissions as soldiers hurried for extraction

New details have surfaced about some of the final exchanges from the late Brig.-Gen. Uba, highlighting his composure and resolve even as troops under Operation Hadin Kai intensified attempts to reach him.

In one of his messages, the General inquired: “Will they come to retrieve me or guide me on where to proceed?”

The coordinating team replied with reassurance: “Sir, the aircraft will stay overhead and work with the ground forces advancing toward your location.”

A short while later, he sent another update: “My battery is at 31% now.”

His final transmission reflected both optimism and determination as he tried to make himself visible to the air unit: “Sir, I am moving on foot, but once I sight the aircraft, I can lift my peak cap.”

These were the last words received from Brig.-Gen. Uba before communication was lost.
