‘It takes a strong woman’: Wike’s wife opens up on managing her husband

Justice Eberechi Suzzette Wike of the Court of Appeal and wife of Nyesom Wike, minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has stated that it takes a strong woman to manage her husband.

She said this on the sidelines of a golf event held at the Nigeria Air Force Base, Goodluck Jonathan Golf Course, Abuja.

The event was organised by Monica Dongban-Mensem, president of the Court of Appeal, to mark the International Road Crash Victims Africa sports programme.

Justice Eberechi said many Nigerians would be surprised to see her playing golf, but noted that it was not her first time on the course.

She said she attended the event to drum up support for Dongban-Mensem, whose NGO promotes road safety awareness following the loss of her son in a road crash in 2011.

The Court of Appeal Judge added that she unwinds by watching television, especially the news, because keeping up with national events helps her stay prepared for issues that may arise in court.

She added that she also enjoys cooking, watching football, and swimming, noting that she played football in secondary school.

When asked what it takes to manage her husband, she replied: “It takes a strong woman to do so. I don’t want to go further than this.”

Recall that the minister was in the news last week following the heated confrontation he had with some Navy personnel over a piece of land in Abuja. The incident led to many calling for his sack after the video went viral online.

Wike, in his reaction to the incident, stated that he would always stand by and watch as government workers are being attacked.
