Sokoto State witnessed yet another night of horror as terrorists launched simultaneous attacks on multiple communities in the Sabon-Birni Local Government Area.

A security source in the Northwest, Bakatsine, disclosed the incident in an X post on Friday, describing the situation as “SAD NEWS.”
According to him, “Yesterday night(Thursday), armed bandits carried out coordinated attacks on Yar Bulutu, Gajit, Alkalawa, Garin Magaji, and Damba communities all in Sabon-Birni LGA of Sokoto State. Multiple residents were killed, several others injured, and a number of people were abducted.”
Meanwhile, residents fear the violence may be linked to recent developments in neighbouring Zamfara State.
Citing ongoing community conversations, he wrote that “recent arrangements in neighbouring Shinkafi LGA (Zamfara State) particularly the reported truce with bandits under the Bello Turji faction, may be contributing to heightened attacks across Isa and Sabon-Birni LGAs (Sokoto State).
“These concerns are still based on community observations and have not yet been officially confirmed.”
SaharaReporters had also reported how panic gripped the residents of Woro community in the Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State after bandits launched a midnight assault on the area.
SaharaReporters learnt that the gunmen stormed the community at approximately 2:15am, attempting to breach under the cover of darkness.
According to a platform, Voice of Borgu, the attackers stormed the area heavily armed, prompting a response from troops of the Nigerian Army, who engaged them in a fierce exchange of gunfire.
The confrontation, described as “intense and prolonged,” lasted between 3am and 4am, forcing residents to remain indoors in fear for their lives.
Reports from within the community reveal that the timely intervention of security forces prevented the situation from escalating further.
By dawn, calm had gradually returned to Woro, with residents expressing profound gratitude to Allah for protection and for sparing the community from greater harm.
Local leaders have also commended the bravery and swift action of the military personnel and community heads who played critical roles in containing the attack.
As of press time, authorities have not released official statements regarding casualties, arrests, or the extent of damage.
Security operatives are said to be conducting follow-up operations in the surrounding areas to track down fleeing members of the gang.
SaharaReporters on Thursday reported that gunmen suspected to be kidnappers attacked and abducted a trader and former ward chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Boriya–Shiya Ward in Baruten Local Government Area of Kwara State, Alhaji Abubakar Sabi Sise.
SaharaReporters had learnt that Alhaji Sise was kidnapped from his residence in Boriya community in the early hours of Thursday.
According to information gathered, the attack occurred around 12am when the kidnappers stormed the compound, firing several gunshots into the air to frighten residents.
Sources said that one of Alhaji Sise’s sons encountered the kidnappers as he was returning home late at night.
The gunmen reportedly ordered him to call his father and open the door for them. Upon entering, they took only the father, leaving other family members unharmed.
By morning, shells of bullets and some live bullets were found scattered around the compound, confirming that several shots were fired during the attack.
Residents described the incident as brief but frightening, lasting only a few minutes before the gunmen fled.
The local vigilante team in Boriya was immediately alerted and has begun searching the surrounding areas in an effort to track the attackers and rescue the victim.
