ADC Calls for Impeachment of Governor Dapo Abiodun Over Alleged Corruption, Neglect, and Misrule in Ogun State
The Ogun State Chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has called for the immediate impeachment of Governor Dapo Abiodun, accusing him of governing the state through what it described as “roguery, cluelessness, financial recklessness, abscondment, and dereliction of duty.”
In a strongly worded press statement signed and released to Our Heritage Reporter on Sunday morning by the party’s state chairman, Otunba Dr. Femi Soluade, Ph.D., the ADC condemned the “deplorable” state of infrastructure particularly roads across Egbaland and accused the governor of marginalizing Ogun Central while diverting public funds to non-essential luxuries, including an alleged aircraft purchase and extravagant birthday celebrations.
The party urged the Ogun State House of Assembly to initiate impeachment proceedings against the governor, citing gross misconduct, breach of public trust, and abuse of state resources.

PRESS RELEASE
OGUN STATE AFRICA DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS (ADC)
IMPEACH DAPO ABIODUN FOR GOVERNING THROUGH ROQUERY, CLUELESSNESS, FINANCIAL RECKLESSNESS, ABSCONDMENT, AND DERELICTION OF DUTY
The African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ogun State Chapter, condemns the deplorable state of roads in Egbaland, where Governor Dapo Abiodun’s incompetent APC administration seeks to subjugate six local governments under the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, treating them as annexed territories under Ogun East dominance.
This criminal negligence aims to demote the entire Egba nation, including our revered Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, from dignity to servitude.
From Ewekoro to Obafemi Owode, our roads have become death traps, claiming hundreds of lives due to the wicked neglect of the Abiodun-led government toward Ogun Central Senatorial District.
Our party also expresses grave concern over allegations that the state government misprioritized funds toward purchasing another aircraft while ignoring critical needs: road infrastructure, local government funding, and public services.
Through maladministration, institutionalized slavery, and corruption, Governor Abiodun’s government has proven to be a catastrophic disaster—politically infantile, morally bankrupt, and a liability to Ogun State.
In over six years of misrule, our state remains in darkness, without potable water, with impassable roads where citizens protest and die daily. Yet, the governor shows no compassion, prioritizing self-aggrandizing luxuries over public welfare.
The ADC also demands an explanation for the alleged waste of over ₦2 billion on a birthday celebration, including luxury gifts for guests.
We further question why state resources were deployed to rebuild the Governor’s private residence in Iperu, while the Government House in Oke-Igbehin lies in ruin.
No legislative approval exists for the aircraft purchase or other frivolous expenditures. Proceeding without it violates democratic norms and fiduciary duty.
Diverting funds to non-essential aviation projects amid infrastructure collapse is unconscionable.
The ADC Demands the Following from the Ogun State House of Assembly:
1. A transparent audit of the state’s new airport, its viability, aircraft procurement plans, funding sources, and tendering process.
2. A public explanation from the Governor and Assembly on whether legislative approval was obtained for the purchase.
3. Immediate suspension of all aircraft-related contracts until proper oversight is conducted.
4. Commence impeachment proceedings against Governor Abiodun for breach of public trust, financial mismanagement, and neglect of citizen welfare.
Governance is not about showpieces. It is about roads, schools, light, water, and hospitals. Wasting resources on prestige while ignoring basic needs is wicked and unacceptable.
We urge all citizens, civil society, and stakeholders to join us in demanding accountability.
Signed:
Otunba Dr. Femi Soluade, Ph.D.
Ogun State Chairman, ADC
