State Government Spends Unbudgeted N2billion On Saloon Cars, Another N3.2billion On SUV Jeeps

ASaharaReporters’ review of the Adamawa State budget performance document has shown that the state spent money outside budgetary provisions to buy 50 executive saloon vehicles worth N2 billion.

Originally, N50 million was budgeted for the purchase of saloon cars; however, as of September 2025, a total of N2 billion had been spent.
In another expenditure, N3.2 billion was spent on the purchase of forty SUV Jeeps, the document reads.
SaharaReporters reported that the Adamawa State government approved N919 million for the “extension of House of Assembly Complex.”
This was contained in a statement released by the government.
“The Executive Council, at its 10th meeting in 2025, has approved over N919 million for the extension of the House of Assembly Complex office, Yola,” the statement read in part.
“The contract has been awarded to Messrs Farassociate Nigeria Limited, with a completion timeline of seven months. The project, which was originally awarded in 2007 but later abandoned, has been revived by the present administration under Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, who deemed its completion a priority.”
It was further noted that the development was “disclosed by the Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Mr. Iliya James, shortly after the council meeting chaired by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.”
SaharaReporters checked the company listed to have been awarded the contract, Farassociate Nigeria Limited, but could not find its details either on the Beneficial Ownership Portal of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) or the Company Registration Database.
However, a similar company, Far Associates Nigeria Limited, was listed on the CAC portal. Further scrutiny, however, showed that the company had been struck off by the CAC.
Earlier, SaharaReporters reported that Adamawa State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Iliya James, confirmed that Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s administration approved N369 million for the remodelling and automation of the main gate at the Government House in Yola.
This comes as residents of the state capital continue to struggle for clean water and other essential public services.
The commissioner announced the luxury gate project shortly after the 17th State Executive Council meeting on September 15, 2025, in Yola.
“In today’s Executive Council meeting, Council considered a number of memoranda submitted by Ministries, Departments, and Agencies. Among others, Council approved the sum of Three Hundred and Sixty-Nine Million Naira (N369,000,000) for the renovation and automation of the main gate of the Government House, Yola. Council also approved Timeless Dizing Limited as the contractor for that project,” James had stated.
While fielding questions from SaharaReporters to clarify the allocation, James added, “Yes, renovation, remodeling, and automation.”
However, a credible source familiar with the transaction told SaharaReporters that Timeless Dizing Limited is allegedly owned by one of Governor Fintiri’s daughters.
According to the source, the company was quietly registered and had no visible operational history before being handed the multi-million-naira contract.
Even more troubling, SaharaReporters’ checks at the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) showed that the company’s registration details and directors could not be verified as of press time, raising questions about its legal status and eligibility for such a public contract.
