Lagos Approves Recruitment of 1,400 Environmental Taskforce Officers to Boost Cleanliness Drive

The Lagos State Government has approved the recruitment of 1,400 new officers into the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC/KAI) as part of efforts to strengthen environmental enforcement across the state.

Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, announced the approval in an X post on Wednesday, noting that the move aligns with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s vision for a cleaner, safer, and more orderly Lagos.

Wahab said the new officers will help enforce environmental laws, curb illegal waste dumping, discourage street trading in restricted zones, and ensure proper waste management in all parts of the state.

“With this expansion, we are reinforcing our commitment to a #CleanerLagos and a #GreaterLagos that prioritises public health, safety, and environmental sustainability,” Wahab stated.
