The political atmosphere in Owo Local Government has been thrown into turmoil following a controversial legislative council sitting that has sparked outrage among concerned citizens. Reports emerging from the area indicate that the council convened and deliberated on critical matters, including a purported impeachment move against the Executive Chairman, without the official legislative mace a constitutionally recognized symbol of authority.

Accordingbto him, The attention of concerned citizens of Owo Local Government has been drawn to a political scandal that occurred during the legislative council sitting held today. Shockingly, the sitting was conducted without the official mace, which is a symbol of authority and a constitutional requirement for any valid legislative proceeding. Therefore, such a sitting is unconstitutional, null, and void in the eyes of the law.
During the invalid sitting, members of the council reportedly criticized the current Executive Chairman, describing him as unfit to continue in office. A motion was moved for his impeachment and to install the Vice Chairman as Acting Chairman. Out of the total members present, 7 councillors supported the motion while 4 councillors opposed it.
Furthermore, the Speaker of the House allegedly claimed that the directive to install the Vice Chairman as Chairman came from the State Capital, Akure, a statement that has been confirmed by reliable sources to be false. This falsehood not only undermines the i nontegrity of the legislative process but also brings ridicule and disrepute to the entire Owo Local Government.
In light of these disturbing developments, we call on the Ondo State Government and all relevant authorities to urgently intervene, investigate this matter thoroughly, and ensure that justice is served. The sanctity of local governance and democratic principles must be protected against abuse and political manipulation.
