Terrorists Kill Charcoal Seller, Abduct Two Sons and Elderly Man in Kwara, Demand ₦30 Million Ransom

Fear and tension have gripped residents of Alapa community in Asa Local Government Area of Kwara State after suspected terrorists reportedly killed a local charcoal seller and kidnapped three others.

According to local sources, the heavily armed attackers invaded the area late at night, shooting sporadically to scare residents before whisking away their victims. The victims include two sons of the slain charcoal seller and an elderly man identified as a neighbour.
The assailants were said to have contacted the family shortly after the incident, demanding a ₦30 million ransom for the release of the abducted individuals.

A community leader, who pleaded anonymity, described the situation as “terrifying and heartbreaking,” calling on the state government and security agencies to act swiftly to rescue the victims and prevent further attacks.

Residents have since fled the area for fear of another raid, lamenting the growing insecurity that has spread from parts of the North into previously peaceful communities in Kwara State.
Security operatives, including police and vigilante groups, have reportedly launched a joint search operation to track down the kidnappers and rescue the victims.

As of the time of filing this report, the Kwara State Police Command is yet to release an official statement regarding the incident.
