Akeredolu’s Ex-Aide Berates Aiyedatiwa’s Camp Over Claims on Akure Roads
A former aide to the late Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, Olabode Richard Olatunde, has criticized supporters of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for allegedly attempting to downplay the infrastructural achievements recorded under the Akeredolu administration in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
Olatunde described Aiyedatiwa’s loyalists as “hallucinated and delusional hirelings,” accusing them of trying to rewrite history by suggesting that Akure roads are better under the current administration. He maintained that such claims are not only misleading but also a blatant disregard for facts.
According to Olatunde, the late Governor Akeredolu’s administration carried out massive road construction and rehabilitation projects that transformed the city’s landscape and improved connectivity across major routes.
Some of the major projects include:
Oke-Ogba Road
Gaga Road
Abusoro Road
Alagbaka SIB–Appeal Court Road
Court of Appeal–SUBEB Road
Oshinle/Iwalewa–Alafiatayo–Hospital Road
15km alternative route linking Idanre to Ijoka, Akure
Dualisation of CBN–Bishop’s Court Road
Over 4km of Ijapo Housing Estate Roads (Construction/Rehabilitation)
Orita Obele Road
Dualisation of Oda Road (from Shoprite to Weluwelu)
Dualisation of Oba Adesida (A Division)–Oba Osupa–Hospital Road–Oluwatuyi to Ijo Mimo Junction, with extensive work already completed up to Sunday Bus-Stop in Ijoka
He also highlighted several rehabilitated roads, including Araromi–Stadium–Isolo Road and Oba-Ile Housing Estate Roads.
The former CPS noted that Akeredolu initiated the construction of Akure’s first-ever flyover and commenced work on the SIB–Alagbaka link road, both designed to ease traffic congestion and enhance the city’s urban appeal.
Olatunde warned Aiyedatiwa’s supporters against twisting facts for political gains, emphasizing that history would always vindicate genuine performance over propaganda.
