President Tinubu to Flag Off Deep Sea Port, Refinery Projects in Ondo state
Ondo State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr. Idowu Ajanaku, has revealed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is expected to embark on a two-day working visit to Ondo State next year for the groundbreaking ceremony of the proposed Ondo Deep Sea Port.
Ajanaku disclosed this while hosting the executives of the Ondo State Online Media Practitioners Association, led by its chairman, Joseph Adesuyan, during a familiarization visit to his office in Akure on Thursday.
He said President Tinubu’s visit will mark a turning point in the economic transformation of Ondo State, adding that the event will also coincide with the 50th anniversary celebration of the state, slated for February 2026.
“By next year, the President will be in Ondo State for a two-day working visit, during which he will lay the foundation of the Ondo Deep Sea Port — a project that will reshape the economic trajectory of our state,” Ajanaku said.
The commissioner added that the administration of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa is laying solid groundwork for industrial expansion and economic diversification across key sectors including energy, infrastructure, and tourism.
He disclosed that the modular refinery in Ore, capable of producing 500,000 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) daily, will commence operation soon, while a cement factory project is also underway in the same industrial corridor.
“When all these projects come on stream, the economy of Ondo State will never remain the same again,” he assured.
Ajanaku compared Governor Aiyedatiwa’s developmental approach to the early reform era of President Bola Tinubu’s administration as Lagos State governor in 1999, describing the Ondo leader as “deep, practical, and meticulous in planning.”
The commissioner also emphasized the government’s commitment to positioning Idanre Hills and other tourism sites as international destinations, disclosing that an elevator system will soon be installed at Idanre Hills to enhance tourist experience.
He reaffirmed the ministry’s readiness to collaborate with online media practitioners to project the achievements of the Aiyedatiwa administration and promote responsible journalism.
Earlier, the chairman of the association, Joseph Adesuyan, commended the commissioner for his professionalism and openness to collaboration, pledging the association’s support in combating fake news and amplifying government projects.
