PDP Suspends Chairmen For Anti-Party Activities, Sabotage Of Forthcoming Convention
The forum of PDP state chairmen announced the suspension of Austine Nwachukwu of Imo State and Amah Abraham Nnana of Abia State at a meeting held on Tuesday at the party’s FCT secretariat in Abuja.
Two state chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have been suspended over alleged anti-party activities and attempts to sabotage the party’s forthcoming national convention.
The forum of PDP state chairmen announced the suspension of Austine Nwachukwu of Imo State and Amah Abraham Nnana of Abia State at a meeting held on Tuesday at the party’s FCT secretariat in Abuja.
The meeting, presided over by Acting Secretary Edward Percy Masha, accused the suspended chairmen of colluding with “external forces” allegedly linked to the All Progressives Congress (APC) to disrupt preparations for the national convention slated for November 15–16.
In a communique issued after the meeting, the forum described their decision to obtain a court injunction to stop the convention as “a betrayal of trust and collective resolve.”
The communique was signed by Tony Aziegbemi, chairman of the forum, and Edward Percy Masha, its secretary.
It also announced the appointment of Aziegbemi, who is the Edo State PDP chairman, as the new chairman of the forum.
The meeting deliberated on matters affecting the unity and stability of the party, the state of the opposition across the country, and preparations for the convention.
The forum further condemned what it called the APC’s “undemocratic and desperate attempts” to pressure PDP governors, lawmakers, and stakeholders into defecting.
“The ruling party’s conduct amounts to an assault on democracy and a dangerous move toward creating a one-party state,” the communique said.
It also passed a vote of confidence in the national working committee (NWC), the PDP governors’ forum, and all statutory organs of the party while urging members to remain calm, united, and committed to defending the party’s values “despite ongoing political distractions.”
