Peter Obi Fires Back at Umahi Over 2027 Presidency Comment: “Let the Voters Decide!”

Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has strongly criticized Minister of Works, David Umahi, following his controversial statement that “it’s not yet the turn of the South-East” to produce Nigeria’s president in 2027.

Obi, in a sharp response, said Umahi has no authority to decide the political destiny of an entire region, stressing that voters—not politicians—should determine who leads Nigeria.

He urged political leaders to respect democratic choice instead of imposing divisive narratives that undermine national unity.
