Kemi Badenoch Warns UK Is Stagnating, Says ‘China Built Five Nuclear Reactors While Britain Was Redefining What A Woman Is’
Badenoch, while speaking during the Conservative Party’s annual conference in Manchester, said that while Britain was busy redefining what a woman is, China was busy building five nuclear reactors.
Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch has accused the Labour Party-led British government of focusing on identity debates while global competitors surge ahead in science, technology, and industry.
Badenoch, while speaking during the Conservative Party’s annual conference in Manchester, said that while Britain was busy redefining what a woman is, China was busy building five nuclear reactors.
“While Britain was redefining what a woman is, China was building five nuclear reactors,” Badenoch said in a video of her speech posted on X (formerly Twitter) by Sky News.
Badenoch further stated that Britain is “stagnating” while other nations are rapidly advancing, saying that Britain is competing with what she described as “restless and ambitious” countries.
“Britain is stagnating while the world around us moves on,” she said. “We are competing with restless and ambitious countries around the world.”
Speaking further, Badenoch said, “We are competing with a billion people in India striving to become middle class. We are competing with economic success stories like Poland.
“Fifteen years ago, Polish workers came here to find opportunities; now Poland is growing twice as fast as we are.”
She announced that the Conservative Party will abolish stamp duty on property purchases in the United Kingdom in an effort to revive the country’s economic growth.
Badenoch, who is struggling to pull the Conservative Party out of third place in the polls, said the abolition of the stamp duty would “benefit people of all ages”, according to Sky News.
She insisted it would be paid by the £47 billion of alleged savings that have been found, according to the shadow chancellor.
Meanwhile, the Labour Party’s chair, Anna Turley, while responding to Badenoch’s speech, said the Conservative Party leader was in complete denial, noting that she has already broken the ‘golden economic rule’.
Turley said, “Kemi Badenoch is in complete denial. The public saw the Tories’ disastrous blueprint for Britain across their 14 years of failure in government – and the Conservatives still won’t apologise for the mess they left,” according to Sky News.
“Kemi Badenoch set herself a new ‘golden economic rule’ today and broke it immediately. It’s the same old Tories, with the same old policies without a plan. They didn’t work then, and you can’t trust them now.
“Only Labour can renew Britain. Real wages have grown more in the first ten months of this Labour government than in the first ten years under the Tories.
“Only Labour can be trusted to grow our economy, secure our borders, and make working people better off,” Turley added.
