Umar Sani Dares Otedola over ₦1bn Lawsuit Threat over subsidy fraud
Umar Sani, who previously served as an aide to ex-Vice President Namadi Sambo, has written a response to Nigerian billionaire Femi Otedola following Otedola’s threat of a N1 billion libel lawsuit against him.
Reports on Monday indicated that Otedola had directed his lawyer to file a N1 billion lawsuit against Umar Sani due to comments linking him to fuel subsidy fraud during former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.
Otedola referred to Sani’s response towards him as “malicious lies.”
In response to Otedola’s threat on X, Sani stated that the courts are institutions that no Nigerian with a clear conscience should hesitate to approach.
He announced on Monday, “I will appear on Arise TV at 3 p.m. to address these claims. The courts are institutions that no Nigerian with a clear conscience should ever hesitate to approach.”
Remember that Otedola alleged N2 trillion was embezzled through questionable subsidy claims during Jonathan’s tenure.
In response to Otedola, Sani characterized the businessman’s remarks as a “hypocritical, selective, and convenient rewriting of history,” pointing out that he had benefited from the subsidy fraud.
