Mystery as clothes, shoes of missing man found in Akure Hotel
There is growing anxiety in Akure, Ondo State, after the personal belongings of a man declared missing were discovered inside a hotel room where he lodged for a seminar.
The missing man, identified as Olaloye Olatunde, had travelled from Owo on Sunday, 24th August 2025, to attend a Child Labour programme organised by Trace Project Akure in partnership with Charakids Foundation. The week-long training, which brought together about 56 participants, was held at Sunview Hotel, Alagbaka, Akure.
Family sources say Olatunde maintained contact with them between Monday and Wednesday of the programme. However, on Friday, 29th August, attempts to reach him failed as his phone was reportedly switched off. His wife later raised alarm when repeated calls went unanswered.
When relatives visited Sunview Hotel to make enquiries, they were shocked to find that while other participants had checked out, Olatunde’s clothes, shoes and other personal effects were still in his room. A photograph of the abandoned items was taken by the family as proof.
The development has left relatives distressed and unsure of his whereabouts.
As at the time of filing this report, neither the hotel management nor the organisers of the programme had issued an official statement.
