Days After Trump–Putin Meeting, Russian Strikes Injure 14 In Ukraine, Leave 3 Trapped Under Rubble
Zelensky noted that other regions also came under attack.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has condemned a wave of Russian strikes that left several people injured and caused widespread destruction across multiple regions of Ukraine.
He stated this in a statement issued on Wednesday.
His statement comes after United States President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, held a meeting in Alaska last Friday.
“Last night, a drone strike on Okhtyrka in the Sumy region injured 14 people. A family with wounded children – 5 months, 4 years, and 6 years old – sought assistance after the attack,” Zelensky said.
“In Kostiantynivka, Donetsk region, a glide bomb strike damaged five apartment buildings, and at least three people still remain under the rubble. The rescue operation continues. There was also a treacherous strike on a gas distribution station in the Odesa region,” the President further said.
Zelensky noted that other regions also came under attack.
“Shelling also targeted the Chernihiv, Kharkiv, and Poltava regions. In total, more than 60 drones and a ballistic missile were used,” he said.
He described the latest attacks as evidence of Moscow’s disregard for peace efforts, saying, “All of these are demonstrative strikes that only confirm the need to put pressure on Moscow, the need to impose new sanctions and tariffs until diplomacy is fully effective. I thank all partners who are helping to stop this Russian war.”
Underscoring the importance of international cooperation, the Ukrainian leader emphasised the need for robust defense commitments.
Trump was recently quoted as warning Putin against rejecting efforts for peace in Russia’s war with Ukraine.
Trump vowed that Putin would face a “rough situation” if he did not co-operate in the peace process, while Volodymyr Zelenskyy had to “show some flexibility,” The Guardian reports.

According to Reuters, in an interview with the Fox News Fox & Friends programme, Trump said he expected that Putin’s actions would become clear in the next couple of weeks.
“I don’t think it’s going to be a problem (reaching a peace deal), to be honest with you. I think Putin is tired of it. I think they’re all tired of it, but you never know,” he said.
