Three Killed, Eight Injured As Gunmen Open Fire Inside Caribbean-American Restaurant In Brooklyn
The incident occurred at about 3:30 a.m. inside Taste of the City Lounge, a Caribbean-American restaurant and bar located at 903 Franklin Avenue in the Crown Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York.
At least three people were shot dead and eight others sustained gunshot injuries when multiple gunmen stormed a Brooklyn restaurant and opened fire early Sunday morning, sending terrified patrons scrambling for cover.
The incident occurred at about 3:30 a.m. inside Taste of the City Lounge, a Caribbean-American restaurant and bar located at 903 Franklin Avenue in the Crown Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York.
New York Police Department (NYPD) Commissioner Jessica Tisch, while addressing reporters at the scene, confirmed that officers recovered no fewer than 36 shell casings after the hail of bullets ripped through the late-night crowd, according to the New York Post.
The victims were identified as three men aged 27, 35, and one of unknown age, who were pronounced dead after the attack. The eight wounded were rushed to nearby hospitals, though the police withheld details of their conditions.
Police said no arrests had been made as of Sunday morning, and the shooters remain on the run.
“This is, of course, an anomaly,” Tisch said. “Thank God we have the lowest number of shooting incidents and shooting victims seven months into the year that we’ve seen on record in New York City. But what happened here this morning is a terrible tragedy.”
Grim footage circulating on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) showed NYPD officers standing inside the restaurant amid broken glass, scattered chairs, and pools of blood.
The Taste of the City Lounge, which opened in 2022, is popular for its Caribbean plates, full bar, hookah services, and live DJs. The business, located less than half a mile from the Brooklyn Museum, had reportedly closed for the night around 3 a.m. when the attackers struck.
