Government  Spends #4.7 Billion on WAEC, NECO, UTME Fees For Students

The Sokoto State Government says it has spent ₦4.7 billion to cover registration fees for students sitting for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), the National Examination Council (NECO) exams, and the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

Governor Ahmad Aliyu disclosed this on Friday while addressing journalists in Sokoto. He said the intervention was aimed at easing the financial burden on parents and ensuring that no student in the state is denied the chance to further their education due to lack of funds.

“This administration is committed to supporting the education of our children, and we will continue to make the necessary investments to secure their future,” Mr Aliyu said.

He added that the gesture was part of his government’s broader plan to revamp the state’s education sector through infrastructure upgrades, teacher training, and provision of learning materials.
