300 Repentant Terrorists in Rehab, Over 2,600 Graduated – FG
The Federal Government has disclosed that more than 300 repentant terrorists are currently undergoing rehabilitation, while over 2,600 have already completed the process under Operation Safe Corridor in Gombe State.
The National Coordinator of the National Counter Terrorism Centre, Maj-Gen Adamu Laka, revealed this in Abuja on Thursday during a stakeholders’ and donors’ meeting on promoting livelihood and agricultural opportunities for ex-combatants and communities affected by conflict.
Laka explained that the programme offers psychosocial support, vocational training, and reintegration assistance, with plans to expand similar initiatives to the North-West and North-Central regions.
He noted that a new agribusiness project in partnership with the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture will provide land, inputs, training, and market access, targeting both ex-fighters and vulnerable community members.
