2025 WASSCE: Why we recorded poor performance – WAEC
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has thrown more light on why students performed woefully in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), particularly in objective papers.

The West African Examination Council revealed that a new anti-malpractice strategy deployed during the exam successfully led to a “slight but noticeable decline” in candidates’ performance in objective papers.
The head of the Nigeria National Office, Dr. Amos Josiah Dangut, used the opportunity to urge students to embrace a culture of discipline and true learning.
During a press briefing in Lagos, Dr. Dangut stated that to combat examination malpractice, WAEC introduced the serialisation of objective test question papers in key subjects like Mathematics, English Language, Biology, and Economics.
This system, which assigned specific paper type to each candidate, made collusion and other forms of cheating “extremely difficult to perpetrate.”Local events calendar
