US Warns Nigerians: Visa Fraud, Fake Application Documents Will Attract Lifetime Ban, Criminal Prosecution
The Mission added that U.S. authorities would not only refuse entry to those involved in visa-related deceit but also pursue criminal charges against them.
The United States Mission in Nigeria has issued a stern warning against visa fraud, declaring that individuals found guilty of such offences will face a lifetime ban from entering the U.S.
In a post on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Monday, the Mission reiterated the U.S. government’s commitment to combating fraud and curbing illegal immigration through coordinated interagency efforts.
“U.S. government interagency efforts combat fraud and will end illegal immigration. Those who commit visa fraud will be banned from the United States for life,” the post read.
The Mission added that U.S. authorities would not only refuse entry to those involved in visa-related deceit but also pursue criminal charges against them.
“We will pursue criminal charges against those who engage in visa fraud and those who bring in and harbour illegal aliens,” it stated.
Reinforcing the seriousness of the message, the post emphasised that the use of falsified documents would lead to severe consequences: “Fake documents = US visa ban.”
The warning comes amid ongoing efforts by U.S. immigration and consular authorities to discourage fraudulent practices and enforce stricter immigration controls.
The message is particularly significant for Nigerians seeking to travel to the United States, as the U.S. government continues to tighten its visa protocols to uphold the integrity of its borders.
The Mission concluded with a pointed reminder of its broader policy stance: “A nation without borders is not a nation.”
