Vinícius Jr. Unveils Wax Statue in Rio de Janeiro
Real Madrid star Vinícius Jr. unveiled a life-sized wax statue in his honour on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at the iconic Sambódromo Marquês de Sapucaí in Rio de Janeiro. The statue, crafted by Madame Tussauds, captures the Brazilian winger in a celebratory pose wearing the Brazilian national team jersey. The event drew fans, family, and local dignitaries who gathered to celebrate the young footballer’s global impact.
Speaking at the unveiling, Vinícius expressed gratitude to his supporters and described the moment as “a dream come true.” He dedicated the statue to children from underprivileged communities who look up to him as a symbol of hope and resilience. “This statue represents my story, but also the story of many kids from São Gonçalo who dream of reaching the top,” he said.
The statue will remain in Rio for a short period before being transferred to a São Gonçalo shopping center, and eventually to Madame Tussauds in New York. The honour highlights Vinícius Jr.’s growing legacy as one of Brazil’s brightest stars on and off the field.
