Mother Declared Wanted By Nigerian Police For Giving ‘Alcohol’ To Infant In Viral Video Breaks Silence, Denies Wrongdoing

In the video, the woman is seen tearing open a sachet of what is suspected to be Triple Action Bitter with her teeth, drinking from it, and then giving it to the baby.

Ayoung mother declared wanted by the Nigeria Police Force over a viral and disturbing video showing her giving a few-month-old baby ‘alcohol’ from a sachet of Action Bitter has broken her silence, denying any wrongdoing.

SaharaReporters reported on Monday that the police declared the young woman wanted after the video, shared by social media influencer @ChuksEricE, sparked widespread outrage and concern for the child’s safety.

In the video, the woman is seen tearing open a sachet of what is suspected to be Triple Action Bitter with her teeth, drinking from it, and then giving it to the baby.

The police, reacting to the video, described the act as “illegal and dangerous” and emphasised that exposing children to alcohol violates Nigerian child welfare laws and endangers their physical and mental health.

The police subsequently called on the public to provide any valuable information that could lead to the swift apprehension of the woman.

Many social media users expressed outrage and concern over the video, with some questioning whether the incident was staged for media engagement.

However, in a new video making the rounds on social media on Wednesday, the young mother, who did not disclose her identity, denied any wrongdoing, claiming that she did not give her child alcohol.

According to her, she only poured Coca-Cola into an empty sachet of Action Bitters, which is what she claimed was given to the baby.

She insisted the act was staged purely for “content” to attract engagement online and said she had video evidence showing when she washed the sachet and filled it with Coke.

She further claimed that she had another video showing the moment she poured the Coca-Cola soft drink into the Action Bitter sachet.

She said, “About the video I posted earlier, that is not Action Bitters. It is Coke. I poured Coke into the sachet. Since I posted the video, people have been dragging me on social media.

“To be sincere, it was Coke I poured into the Action Bitters sachet. I even have a video on my phone showing when I was doing it.

“My baby is just five months old. I would never give her Action Bitters. I am not that kind of mother. I do not even take it myself.”

She added, “To clear the air, it was Coke I poured into the sachet, and I washed it before using it. I was just trying to create content, nothing more. We are begging Nigerians, please forgive us.”
