Nigerian Police Arrest Delta University Student For Stabbing Female Colleague, Demanding N2million Ransom
According to Edafe, the suspect, armed with a kitchen knife, lured the victim, a 100-level student of the university, to the school auditorium, where he allegedly stabbed her twice in the neck and chest.
Astudent of Delta State University of Science and Technology, Ozoro, Nkweyo Prince, has been arrested by the Delta State Police Command for allegedly stabbing a student, simply identified as Peace, and attempting to extort N2million from her family.
This was made known in a video clip share on X by the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe on Thursday.
According to Edafe, the suspect, armed with a kitchen knife, lured the victim, a 100-level student of the university, to the school auditorium, where he allegedly stabbed her twice in the neck and chest.
The suspect then reportedly used the victim’s mobile phone to call her father and demand a ransom.
Parading the suspect in a video, Edafe wrote, “It’s so sad that some of our boys, due to a lack of home training, are cutting short the lives of innocent girls. She is a 100-level student of the newly renamed Southern Delta University.
“The suspect, who was armed with a kitchen knife, asked her to meet him at the school auditorium where he stabbed her twice in her neck and chest. He later used the girl’s phone to call the father and demand ransom.”
Odafe said: “An attempt to murder a 100-level student of the Delta State University of Science and Technology in Wazoro.
“On the 14th of June, to be precise, the suspect, where I have been invited, someone he claimed to be his friend, her name is Peace, a 100-level student of that university, to their school auditorium.
“On that fateful day she went to see him at the auditorium. Whatever the conversation they had, the suspect stabbed this girl twice on her neck.
“He stabbed her twice on her neck and stabbed her also in the chest region.
“After he did that, he took the girl’s phone and called the girl’s father that the girl had been kidnapped and a ransom of 2 million naira should be sent for the girl to regain her freedom.
“He later called again that N200,000 should be sent for the girl to regain her freedom.
“N200,000 should be sent first as advance. Unfortunately for him, he never knew the poor girl did not die.
“While she was still unconscious, she was able to mention the name of her friend whom she went to see that attempted to murder her.
“It was on that ground that the school management started looking for this guy and he was eventually summoned and arrested.
“It is good news that the poor girl did not die. But as we are speaking, she is still in a very critical condition.”
Speaking, the suspect, Prince, confessed: “She is just a friend. I invited her to the school auditorium to kill her to collect ransom from her father.
“We’re just discussing about school activities that they are moving us from this school to Urukbe.
“Her phone was already open before I stabbed her. I stabbed her twice on her neck and on her chest. After that, I called her father for a ransom of N2million.”
