Getting Mixed Up in Financial Crime Could Cost You Your Public Office — EFCC Chairman Warns Nigerian Youths

Ola Olukoyede, the Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has delivered a serious message to the youth of Nigeria:

“If you’re caught up in financial crime, don’t even think about holding a public office in Nigeria. We’re keeping an eye on things, and we will take action when necessary.”

He emphasized that background checks and previous financial histories will play a bigger role in deciding who gets to serve the nation, especially as young people set their sights on 2027.

This warning comes at a time when many young Nigerians are tempted by get-rich-quick schemes, but the EFCC chairman insists that the long-term fallout is far too significant to overlook.

He encouraged the youth to pursue honest avenues for success, stressing that the future of the country relies on their integrity.
