DR. OLAJIDE OWOKA THROWS WEIGHT BEHIND FGM ERADICATION INITIATIVE IN ONDO
…Hails Governor Aiyedatiwa’s Unwavering Commitment to Human Dignity, Healthcare Advancement. . . . . .
As the wave of advocacy against Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) sweeps across Ondo State through the renewed partnership between the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), Balm in Gilead Foundation for Sustainable Development (BIGIF), and the state government, renowned public health advocate and political figure, Dr. Olajide Owoka, has thrown his full weight behind the initiative, describing it as “a clarion call to conscience and a fight for the soul of humanity.”
Dr. Owoka, in a passionate statement, extolled the administration of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for its proactive stance on efficient healthcare, socioeconomic advancement, and the unflinching protection of girls and women from barbaric and dehumanizing practices.
“I salute the courage and foresight of Governor Aiyedatiwa. In a time when silence could be complicit, he has chosen to speak through policy and action. The partnership with UNICEF and BIGIF is not just an intervention—it is a moral revolution that must sweep through every hamlet and household in Ondo State,” Owoka declared.
Describing FGM as “a cultural relic soaked in the tears of generations,” Dr. Owoka echoed the words of UNICEF and BIGIF, emphasizing that the war against FGM must be fought not only with laws but with sustained community dialogue, grassroots empowerment, and unwavering political will.
“I lend my voice and influence to this cause. Every girl deserves to grow in full bloom, not scarred by ignorance. We must stand guard over their dignity with the same vigilance we would protect a nation’s treasury,” he said.
Dr. Owoka further praised the governor for not only his administrative strides but also for Godly administering the affairs of Ondo State with humility and divine consciousness. He commended Governor Aiyedatiwa for his excellent management of the chapel within the Government House and his consistent spiritual devotion, as evidenced by his presence at the monthly praise night, which normally holds, every last Friday of the month, at the international conference centre(The Dome).
“These spiritual commitments are not just ceremonial,” Owoka noted. “They reflect deeply in the governor’s speeches and leadership style, especially as clearly seen during the APC National Summit held on May 22, 2025, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. His words were seasoned with wisdom, compassion, and vision—hallmarks of a leader who fears God and leads with purpose.”
In a further commendation of the governor’s impactful leadership, Dr. Owoka applauded Governor Aiyedatiwa for his tireless efforts in ensuring the successful take-off of the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) Teaching Hospital—a development he described as “planting a tree whose fruits generations will eat and whose shade will become a refuge for countless lives.”
“With the FUTA Teaching Hospital, Governor Aiyedatiwa has laid a golden cornerstone in the edifice of Ondo’s health future. This is not just a hospital—it is a beacon of hope, a sanctuary of healing, and a testament to the governor’s legacy of purposeful governance,” Dr. Owoka added.
He also commended the Ministry of Women Affairs under the leadership of Dr. Seun Osamaye, noting its pivotal role as “the bridge between policy and the people, between intention and impact.”
Dr. Owoka concluded with a powerful message that ties directly to his ambition to lead the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, reaffirming his loyalty to the party’s values and Governor Aiyedatiwa’s vision for a greater Ondo.
“As I seek to serve our party in a greater capacity, I remain committed to supporting Governor Aiyedatiwa’s people-oriented initiatives and progressive governance. If entrusted with the mandate as APC Chairman in Ondo State, I will work tirelessly to build bridges across all structures of the party, reinforce unity, and champion policies that uphold human dignity, justice, and sustainable development. Together, we will deepen the footprints of good governance and ensure that no citizen is left behind.”
With such bold declarations and a heart rooted in service, Dr. Owoka continues to position himself as a formidable voice for progress and a reliable ally of purposeful leadership in Ondo State.
