30 years after of marriage, Nigerian woman welcomes first child
A Nigerian woman has welcomed her first child at the age of 56, nearly three decades after getting married, in a story that has drawn widespread attention and emotional reactions across social media.
The woman shared her testimony at the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries, recounting years of infertility struggles, medical challenges and persistent hope throughout her marriage, which began in July 1994.
According to her, the couple endured decades of disappointment, including two unsuccessful in vitro fertilisation (IVF) attempts.
Despite the setbacks and mounting societal pressure, she said they remained steadfast in their desire to have a child.
She eventually conceived at 56 and delivered her baby in January 2025, just weeks before turning 57, a milestone that concluded almost 30 years of waiting.
Her story has sparked renewed public discussion about infertility, late motherhood and the emotional burden faced by women without children in many communities.
