Days after the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, said the incoming government in Kano State led by Abba Yusuf would review the balkanisation of the state emirate, the state outgoing governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, has expressed fear over the survival of the emirates his administration created in the course of its two-term in power.

It will be recalled that Governor Ganduje had split the Kano emirates into five after he dethroned the then Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi.

The governor had said the four new emirates are a symbol of unity, progress, and well-being.

However, speaking during Monday’s Workers’ Day celebrations in Kano, the governor said he would keep praying that the emirates are not destroyed by evil after leaving office.

While noting that the emirates were created for the people, the governor said: “Any of you that visits the headquarters of these new emirates will believe me that we have brought development to these places.

“Even if we are not in government, we are praying and we will keep praying for God to protect these emirates from all evils. I thank you all.”
