The Special Assistant to the Governor of Anambra State on Youth Mobilisation and A chieftain of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Anambra Youth wing, Hon. Ebelechukwu Igboekunie Ngini has called on Anambra youths to jettison the unlawful, ungodly, untenable, unsocial, uneconomical and unreasonable inordinate desire for accumulation of wealth and the expectations of unearned and overnight financial success generally known as get-rich-quick syndrome which is prevalent among the youths and embrace the enduring legacies and culture of integrity, hard work, honesty and patriotism in other to be reckoned as change makers in the State and the Nation at large.

Hon. Ngini expressed his displeasure that the get-rich-quick syndrome has become a deified, noticeable trend mostly exhibited, to varying degrees, across social media platforms thereby breeding laziness, indolence, an entitlement mentality and potential criminality, rooted in a culture where many young people see ritual killings and fraud as the only way to make money.

He reiterated that the ills caused by the reliance of ‘Oke Ite’ fraud and other social vices as means to make quick and big money over bankable skills can never be overemphasized

Hon. Ngini emphasized that values reorientation process is a high priority of the present State government and for any society to experience positive and sustainable growth, positive values of integrity, hard work and patriotism must be upheld and encouraged.

He maintained that Anambra youths are generally active and creative, hence, there is the need to re-orientate the minds of the youths for a total turn around while assisting them at whatever level towards engaging themselves meaningfully.

He further revealed that his office is partnering with YAPJEN, a youth focused advocacy organization led by Amb. Timothy Nwachukwu to embark on “Anambra Legacy and Culture Sensitisation” by Identifying and synergising with Anambrarians who have etched thier names on the indelible sands of time through hardwork, integrity and Resilience, re-orientating of the youths and dissuading them from Okeite trend, empowering the Anambra youth by opening up global opportunities for them.
