Zelensky Insists Russia Must End War Ahead Of Trump Talks

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky declared that it was Russia’s responsibility to end the ongoing invasion, just hours before high-stakes peace talks with US President Donald Trump in Washington. Trump, who recently met Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska, has urged Kyiv to give up Crimea and drop its NATO membership ambitions.

Zelensky, upon arriving in Washington, stressed that Ukrainians were defending their independence and would not surrender their land. He expressed hope that the combined efforts of Ukraine, the United States, and European allies would pressure Moscow into accepting a genuine peace deal. His remarks came as Russia escalated attacks, launching drones and ballistic missiles that killed civilians in Kharkiv and other regions.

The upcoming meeting is expected to bring together Trump, Zelensky, European leaders, and NATO officials to discuss terms of a possible settlement. While Trump has hinted at supporting some Russian territorial demands, Zelensky has repeatedly insisted that Ukraine’s constitution bars any concession of sovereign land.
