You can’t fight me, don’t forget I was your Accountant General — Governor Fubara declares war, fights back at Wike
The embattled Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has boldly declared that he is impervious to impeachment, setting the stage for a dramatic political showdown. Fubara’s resolute stance came in response to an ongoing plot to unseat him, which he cunningly thwarted by making a series of strategic moves.
The most striking of these moves was the removal of the Speaker of the Rivers State House, Rt. Hon. Martin Amaewhule, and the swift emergence of Rt. Hon. Ehie Edison as the new Speaker of the House of Assembly. Not stopping there, the newly elected Speaker wasted no time flexing his political muscles. He took the controversial step of suspending the State Chief Judge, a move that raised eyebrows and intensified the already heated political climate in Rivers State.
Furthermore, he directed the governor to appoint an Acting Chief Judge for the state, adding another layer of complexity to the unfolding political drama. The roots of this high-stakes political feud can be traced back to the relationship between Governor Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike.
Notably, Fubara had served as the Director of Finance & Account at the Government House when Wike was in office. In 2020, Wike approved Fubara’s appointment as the Permanent Secretary and later promoted him to the coveted position of Accountant General of the state, solidifying their political ties. However, recent events have strained this once-amicable association.
Our heritage reporter had earlier reported that lawmakers, allegedly loyal to former Governor Wike, have reportedly signed an impeachment notice against Governor Fubara.

The Democracy Watchman reports that according to reports from Tinubu camp, if Wike fails to impeach Sim Fubara and regain control of Rivers State, he will eventually lose his position as FCT Minister. It is alleged that Siminalayi Fubara wants to return back to the PDP camp and if that happens Tinubu might lose Rivers in 2027. Recalled that Rivers State is where Tinubu was assigned huge votes that helped him with the election.
The Democracy WatchMan further reports that there are already calls from the North to remove Wike as FCT Minister. And Tinubu was ignoring those calls because he needed Wike. But losing control of Rivers will means Wike will lose value in Tinubu’s eyes.
Already the PDP boys are backing Sim over Wike because of what Wike did in the last election. So now it’s a battle of political careers. If Wike wins, Sim’s political career is over. If Sim wins, Wike’s political career is over.
Wike had singlehandedly supported the election of Fubara against the will of some stakeholders of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party in the state.
Despite efforts by our heritage reporter to contact the former governor, Wike could not be reached for comment on Monday as calls to his line indicated that it was switched off.
