Wike Responds To Presidency Affirming Fubara As APC Leader In Rivers State

On 22nd of January, presidential spokesperson, Daniel Bwala while speaking on Channels Tv, declared governor Siminalayi Fubara as the leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC), puting to rest former governor Nyesom Wike’s claim of controlling the party’s structure in Rivers state.

Daniel Bwala argued that Nyesom Wike can not contend the leadership of the APC in Rivers state with governor Sim Fubara citing that the governor is a registered member of the APC while Nyesom Wike is not. According to Daniel Bwala, Nyesom Wike may be the leader of his party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers state where he is the highest ranked person in Rivers state.

The affirmation of governor Fubara’s position in the APC by the presidential spokesperson, puts to rest the controversy surrounding the control of the APC’s structure in Rivers state.

In his reaction to Daniel Bwala affirming governor Siminalayi Fubara as the APC leader in Rivers state, former governor Nyesom Wike reiterated his stance that there are no active political parties in Rivers state other than the Rainbow Coalition for president Bola Ahmed Tinubu. A political movement that has united all political parties in Rivers state into a single support group for president Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Rivers state.

According to the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), as long as the Rivers state is concerned, there are no political parties. Nyesom Wike who took the credit for uniting the political parties in Rivers into a coalition for president Tinubu’s reelection in 2027, declared himself the leader of the political group–Rainbow Coalition.

He explained that all the political parties in the coalition will collectively work for president Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reelection in 2027 and will in fact, ensure that president Bola Ahmed Tinubu sweeps all the eligible votes in Rivers state. He added that whereas the Rainbow Coalition is poised to work for president Tinubu’s reelection, it will on the other hand oust governor Sim Fubara from the governorship seat.
