The politicians met in Kano state, hosted by Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. No press statement was issued by the politicians for the purpose of the meeting, however, photos from the meeting were shared on social media.
Meanwhile, Reliant.ng gathered from speaking with a close associate of Bauchi state governor, Bala Mohammed who revealed that the political leaders met to chat their political future in view of the ongoing political realignments in the country ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“We all know what is happening. It’s connected to their future –governor Bala Mohammed, Muhammad Badaru, Musa Kwankwaso and his ally, Buba Galadima”.
The source explained that the politician deliberated on forming a bloc that will enable them negotiate with the coalition party–African Democratic Party (ADC) who have shown interest in having the politicians in their camp. According to him, while former Jigawa state governor and immediate past defence minister, Muhammad Badaru had denied holding talks with the ADC, he does not rule out the move especially as it appears he has fallen out with president Tinubu after his sack as defence minister.
“Badaru’s best in the APC is in the past, he can not get more than he has already been given in the APC even if he decides to stay there. He is a politician and negotiation is key for them”.
On Kwankwaso and governor Bala Mohammed, he stated that the later has publicly declared that he will not defect to the APC, delineating his choice to either joining the ADC or remaining in the PDP. He added that governor Bala Mohammed understands that the APC government will torment his post governorship life if they eventually get reelected in 2027. Already the governor is facing allegation of terrorism financing. He also revealed that Musa Kwankwaso is said to have reached an agreement with the ADC leadership and will likely make his defection to the coalition party public soon.
“My boss understands that the APC government is after him. If they get reelected in 2027, they will torment him. Even though the governor remains in the PDP, possibility of working with the main opposition party is there. For Kwankwaso, his planned defection to the ADC is an open secret. It is just a matter of time before it’s made public”.
