Why Our Members Are Protesting In Solidarity With Iran in Nigeria – Shi’ites
The Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) has defended its protests in solidarity with Iran, saying the actions are peaceful expressions of opposition to aggression against Muslim nations.
Ammar Muhammad, President of the IMN Media Forum, explained in Kaduna that the protests aim to correct misconceptions and reaffirm the group’s long-standing stance against oppression and attacks on political and religious leaders.
Muhammad noted that the demonstrations erupted following reported attacks by Israel and the United States against Iran, including the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei. He said the IMN has historically stood with oppressed communities worldwide and that its solidarity with Iran is consistent with this position.
He stressed that the IMN is not a sectarian organization, but a broad movement welcoming people from diverse backgrounds who share its vision for justice and social reform. According to Muhammad, the group advocates for a just social order based on Islamic principles and seeks to raise public awareness about issues affecting oppressed communities globally.
The spokesperson emphasized that the protests are entirely peaceful, intended solely to show solidarity and voice grievances without violence.
