Lagos – A fierce war of words erupted on social media between former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode (FFK), and veteran journalist and former Presidential candidate, Dele Momodu, over alleged insults and political grievances.
The feud escalated on Thursday when Fani-Kayode took to his Facebook page to respond to claims made by Momodu, whom he described in biting terms as “a pimp” and a “sidekick” to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar. Fani-Kayode accused Momodu of harboring an “inferiority complex” and criticized his career, recalling his days as a journalist and his failed Presidential bid.
Fani-Kayode wrote, in part: “You called me a pig yet look at yourself in the mirror and tell me who looks more like a pig between you and I. Your profound ugliness, fat stomach, and lack of good breeding is your greatest torment. You were nothing, you are nothing, and you will never be anything but Atiku’s sidekick.”
He further emphasized his current focus on serving the nation, pointing to President Bola Tinubu’s ongoing diplomatic engagements in the United Kingdom as evidence of his continued relevance in the corridors of power.
In response, Dele Momodu, via his X (formerly Twitter) handle, called Fani-Kayode a “classic case of a wasted investment” and an “outright and incurable thug,” referencing Fani-Kayode’s elite education, including Cambridge University, which he said did not prevent him from developing what Momodu described as a “strange malady” of constant conflict and aggression.
Momodu added: “For Femi, it is a fulfillment of a long-expected appointment… Femi without power is like fish out of water. It is such a pity that now that Tinubu has finally looked at his side, with mercy and compassion, he is still busy fighting, like a pig, instead of seeking urgent rehabilitation into the comity of sane human beings.”
The exchange highlights the personal and political animosity between the two figures, who have long been involved in Nigeria’s political and media landscape. While Fani-Kayode continues to assert his position as a key political actor, Momodu’s response frames the feud as a cautionary reflection on temperament and behavior.
As of Thursday, the verbal sparring had yet to de-escalate, with both parties maintaining their positions in the public eye.
