What They Have Done To El-Rufai & Aisha Buhari; These Are Powerful People To Ensured BAT’s Victory—Dele Momodu

According to a report by Channels TV, on Sunday March 15, 2026, Dele Momodu, a prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Press (PDP) and veteran journalist, has sparked a fresh wave of political debate by questioning the current status of those who were instrumental in President Bola Tinubu’s 2023 electoral victory.

In a candid assessment of the shifting power dynamics within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Momodu pointed specifically to the former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, and the former First Lady, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, as examples of key allies who have seemingly been sidelined.

Momodu reflected on the intense efforts made during the campaign cycle, noting that the victory was not a product of luck but of the significant political capital invested by heavyweights who now appear to be on the periphery of the administration.

“See what they’ve done to our brother and friend Nasiru El-Rufai. He was one of the most powerful people who ensured the victory of Tinubu.”

The journalist emphasized that El-Rufai’s support was not half-hearted, noting that the former governor and other key figures “supported him with everything,” including influential backing from the highest levels of the previous administration.

“He was one of the most powerful people who ensured the victory of Tinubu supported him with everything with Mrs. Aisha Buhari but what are they facing today?”

Momodu’s critique suggests that the administration is now prioritizing a new inner circle, effectively using the “life and death” political leverage he has previously described to reshape the hierarchy of Nigerian politics.

Responding to suggestions that the opposition or certain power blocs had “gone to sleep” following the inauguration, Momodu clarified that the current silence from former power brokers is more likely due to the overwhelming nature of the executive’s reach.

“So it is not that we went to sleep but we were kept very busy using the power the presidential power that God has given to him if I can put it that way.”
