What Kwankwaso Told Me About Supporting Tinubu In 2027– Buba Galadima
Long-standing ally of Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and chieftain of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Buba Galadima has responded to speculations about Kwankwaso supporting president Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reelection in 2027.
Buba Galadima who spoke on Channels Tv Politics Today, claimed that it “will be extremely difficult” for Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso to support president Bola Ahmed Tinubu in his 2027 reelection bid.
According to him, Kwankwaso and Tinubu at present do not have a good relationship due to the presidency meddling in the Kano state chieftaincy tussle between Sanusi Lamido and Ado Bayero.

He explained that the Tinubu’s administration despite being aware that it lacks power over chieftaincy matters, influenced the Kano Emirate crisis by throwing his support behind Kano state ousted Ado Bayero at the expense of Emir Sanusi Lamido.
Buba Galadima accused Tinubu of working against the interest of Kwankwaso in Kano state and that Kwankwaso will unlikely agree to work for him.

He said the president in his bid to cause division in the Kano Emirate, used a federal court to legitimatize Ado Bayero’s cling to the throne and currently shielding him with more than 40 armed military men.
He added that Kwankwaso has not told him about his intention to support Tinubu in 2027 and that the former Kano state governor who is known for his steadfastness, will unlikely change his stance due to his personal principle as well as his supporters.
When asked the future of the NNPP in the face of its internal leadership crisis and political developments in the country, Buba Galadima stated that no decision has been reached by Kwankwaso loyalists on whether to remain in the party or to change to the coalition. He however pointed out that whichever choice Kwankwaso and his supporters make will definitely lead to electoral victory in the state.
Buba Galadima added that president Tinubu’s support for Ado Bayero is due to his belief that the Kano state government deposed emir will earn him some votes in Kano state.

He thereafter stated that no emir in Kano state has the capacity to cause a significant political shift in Kano due to the people’s trust and belief in Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
Reports claim that the leaders of the Coalition party–African Democratic Congress (ADC) had approached Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, urging him to join the coalition party which aims to wrestle power from president Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.
However, the former Kano state governor is said to be reluctant to joining the coalition due to his secret pact with president Bola Ahmed Tinubu. According to the speculations, president Bola Ahmed seeks to align with Kwankwaso due to his political shrewdness and vast supporters especially in Kano state.
Hence, president Bola Ahmed according to the speculation, considers Kwankwaso a more viable running mate for 2027 over the current vice president of Nigeria, Kashim Shettima. It’s speculated that the Nigerian president believes that aligning with Kwankwaso is necessary for his reelection in 2027 especially in the face of his dwindling goodwill in the northern region and the conspiracy by Nasir El-rufai, former vice president Atiku Abubakar, Abubakar Malami and other northern political elites.
A few weeks ago, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso was hosted by president Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Aso Rock. The meeting of the duo was linked to the ongoing discussion over Kwankwaso’s political future and the offers allegedly made to him by the president.
Amidst these speculations, political groups in the northeast have reminded president Bola Ahmed Tinubu that he must retain vice president Kashim Shettima if he is to get their support and votes in the 2027 presidential election.
The group emphasized that the position of vice president Kashim Shettima is not negotiable and warned the president not to listen to those who have advised him to pick a running mate from the north central at the expense of Kashim Shettima.
