What I Always See In Christopher Musa When He Was Chief Of Army Defense Staff – Former senate President, Senator Ahmad Lawan
In a recent video on NTA, Senate President, Senator Ahmad Lawan, has commended the character and leadership qualities of ministerial nominee and former Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General C.G. Musa, describing him as a model of patriotism and professionalism. Lawan made the remarks during the ongoing screening session presided over by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
Addressing the chamber, Lawan recalled his personal interactions with Musa during the general’s tenure as CDS. “Mr. Chairman Godswill Akpabio, while he was CDS—Chief of Defence Staff—when we worked together with him, I saw sense of duty, sense of patriotism, sense of nationalism, professionalism, humility and firmness,” he said.
The Yobe North senator noted that these qualities are essential for anyone taking up a strategic national role, especially in a period marked by complex security challenges. He described Musa as a leader who combines discipline with empathy, and firmness with humility, adding that such a blend is rare in public service.
Lawan emphasized that Musa’s performance in previous roles demonstrated his ability to manage crises, inspire confidence within the military, and uphold national interest above personal gain. He stated that these attributes explain the widespread support the nominee has received since President Bola Ahmed Tinubu submitted his name for ministerial appointment.
According to the senator, Nigeria needs leaders who embody national values and can unite both military and civilian stakeholders around security reforms. “What I saw in him is what our country needs at this time,” Lawan stressed, urging his colleagues to recognize the nominee’s proven track record.
