We Gave Grants, Not Loans” — Remi Tinubu Urges Nigerian Women to Start Akara, Kuli-Kuli Businesses

Nigeria’s First Lady, Remi Tinubu, has encouraged women across the country to venture into small-scale businesses such as akara frying, corn roasting, and kuli-kuli production, stating that such businesses require little capital to start.

“We’re trying to give hope. To start akara business doesn’t take much; to start roasting corn doesn’t take much. We didn’t give them a loan; we gave it to them as a grant,” she said.
