We Are Very Strong Members Of PDP – Martins Amaewhule Reveals What Will Happen On August 30

Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Martins Amaewhule, has assured party members and residents that the upcoming local government elections will be a landmark moment for strengthening grassroots democracy in the state.

In a video shared on Symfoni TV, Amaewhule, joined by 27 assembly members, reaffirmed their loyalty to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), declaring, “We are very strong members of PDP,” and stressing their unity ahead of the polls. He described August 30, 2025, as a crucial day when Rivers people will freely choose councillors and chairmen for all 23 local government areas.

Amaewhule highlighted the inclusive nature of the election, noting that women and youths are well represented on the PDP ticket. He expressed delight at the high number of female vice-chairmanship aspirants and young candidates, saying it reflects the party’s commitment to grooming future leaders and ensuring grassroots governance is representative.

He commended the Rivers PDP leadership, particularly state party chairman Hon. Aaron Chukwuemeka and Elders Council chairman Chief Ferdinand Alabaraba, for fostering peace, unity, and discipline within the party. He also praised Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, for his firm leadership, describing him as a stabilizing force in the state’s political structure.

The Speaker promised that the lawmakers would intensify voter mobilization to ensure a PDP victory across the board. He said their ultimate aim is to strengthen local councils, restore public trust in grassroots administration, and demonstrate that the PDP remains the party capable of delivering tangible development.

Amaewhule further encouraged residents to participate actively in the electoral process, emphasizing that credible local governance starts with citizens making informed choices and standing firm in defending their votes.
