In the early hours of Friday, suspected terrorists attacked Dan Auta village in the Sabuwa local government area of Katsina State, leaving two dead, including a member of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KSCWC). The raid, which occurred around 2 a.m., also resulted in the abduction of 13 individuals, among them women and children.

Among the kidnapped was Alhaji Imamu, the chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the area. Eyewitnesses reported that the assailants arrived in large numbers on motorcycles, heavily armed with automatic weapons.

Despite the brave efforts of KSCWC operatives and local vigilante groups to fend off the attackers, they were vastly outnumbered. One KSCWC member lost his life while attempting to protect the community, while the second victim was shot while resisting his abduction.

Several residents sustained injuries during the attack, with some receiving medical attention at a nearby primary healthcare center.

This incident underscores the ongoing security challenges in Katsina State, which, like many regions in the North-West, continues to grapple with frequent assaults by terrorists, kidnappers, and cattle rustlers. The criminal groups often exploit the vast forested areas in Katsina and neighboring states as safe havens.
