Trump, who returned to the UN stage for the first time in six years, used blunt language and sweeping claims, portraying irregular migration as nothing short of a global invasion.
The President of the United States turned the spotlight on immigration in a fiery speech at the United Nations General Assembly, where he accused the UN of bankrolling migrant flows and blasted European leaders for “suicidal” open-border policies that, according to him, are “destroying” sovereign nations.
Trump, who returned to the UN stage for the first time in six years, used blunt language and sweeping claims, portraying irregular migration as nothing short of a global invasion.
He alleged that the United Nations was actively facilitating the movement of migrants into the United States and Europe through direct financial and logistical support.
“In 2024, the U.N. budgeted $372 million in cash assistance to support an estimated 624,000 migrants journeying into the United States,” he declared. “The U.N. also provided food, shelter, transportation, and debit cards to illegal aliens. Can you believe that? On the way to infiltrate our southern border.”
The US leader, who has made immigration control a defining plank of his political career, boasted that under his watch, border crossings had been halted entirely.
“For the last four months, the number of illegal aliens admitted and entering our country has been zero. Hard to believe, but true,” he said, contrasting the situation with what he described as “millions and millions of people pouring in” under his predecessor.

He framed the crackdown not just as a question of national security, but as a humanitarian necessity, claiming that dangerous migration routes were costing lives.
“Once we started detaining and deporting everyone who crossed the border and removing illegal aliens from the United States, they simply stopped coming,” he said. “This was a humanitarian act for all involved, because on the trips up, thousands of people a week were dying. Women were being raped. Nobody has ever seen anything like it.”
The President went further, attacking European governments for what he described as cowardice and political correctness in the face of migrant inflows.
He singled out London as an example of what he portrayed as cultural decline brought on by open-border policies, saying: “I look at London, where you have a terrible mayor, terrible, terrible mayor. And it’s been so changed. Now they want to go to Sharia law. But you’re in a different country. You can’t do that.”
According to him, European countries risk collapse unless they take drastic action.
“Your countries are being ruined,” he warned delegates. “They’ve been invaded by a force of illegal aliens like nobody has ever seen before. It’s not sustainable. And because they choose to be politically correct, they’re doing just absolutely nothing about it.”
To back up his claims, the President cited figures from the Council of Europe about migrant populations in European prisons.
“According to the Council of Europe, in 2024, almost 50 percent of inmates in German prisons were foreign nationals or migrants. In Austria, the number was 53 percent. In Greece, it was 54 percent. And in Switzerland, beautiful Switzerland, it’s 72 percent,” he said, adding that migrants had “repaid kindness with crime.”
The President’s solution was straightforward: mass deportations and hardline border enforcement.
“Where migrants have violated laws, lodged false asylum claims, or claimed refugee status for illegitimate reasons, they should, in many cases, be immediately sent home,” he said.
“Proud nations must be allowed to protect their communities and prevent their societies from being overwhelmed by people they have never seen before, with different customs, religions, with different everything.”
He argued that compassion should be shown in the migrants’ home countries, not in the form of resettlement in the West.
“We have to solve the problem, and we have to solve it in their countries, not create new problems in our countries,” he told the assembly.
The speech’s immigration section, which stretched longer than many other parts, underscored the President’s intent to make migration not just a domestic issue but a central theme of his foreign policy.
“The U.N. is supposed to stop invasions, not create them, and not finance them,” he said.
“We have reasserted that America belongs to the American people, and I encourage all countries to take their own stand in defense of their citizens as well.”
The address drew a mix of applause, silence, and visible discomfort from some diplomats in the chamber, many of whom represent nations whose citizens are directly affected by US immigration policy.
He noted that migration is not merely a challenge of governance or a humanitarian crisis, but an existential threat to the survival of nations.
“Your countries are going to hell,” he told world leaders bluntly. “See, I can tell you. I’m really good at this stuff.”
