Truck-tanker collision triggers fatal gas explosion in Lagos

A gas explosion rocked the Ajah axis of Lagos on Saturday, triggering a raging fire that destroyed properties.

The explosion reportedly followed a collision between a truck and the gas tanker.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, March 21.

An X user, Ayo-Bankole Akintujoye, posted about the incident, saying, “There’s a massive gas explosion in the Ajah area of Lagos… Multiple properties have been affected, and the situation is severe.”

Officials of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service confirmed the incident to our correspondent.

According to the Director of Public Affairs, Lagos State Fire Service, Amodu Shakiru, the fire had been extinguished as of the time of filing this report.

Shakiru said details of the incident would be released later.
