Truck driving against traffic crashes into petrol tanker in Edo

A truck driving against traffic at the Benin-Ore express road has collided with a petrol tanker at Igueze community, near Ovia River in Edo state.

Blueprint gathered that two persons were severely wounded in the crash after the petrol tanker caught fire as a result of the impact of the head-on collision.

‎

The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) Sector Commander in Edo State, Cyril Mathew confirmed the accident.

‎

‎Cyril explained that the accident happened at about 7a.m, adding that fire fighters from S and T barrack put out the inferno which was ignited following the crash.

‎

‎He said one of the vehicles involved in the accident drove through one-way, and in the process rammed into an coming vehicle.

‎

‎According to the Sector Commander, “the vehicle immediately caught fire. But one of the victims who was trapped was rescued before the fire spread.

‎

‎”Three persons were involved in the accident and those who sustained injuries were taken to the hospital,” he added.
