Truck driving against traffic crashes into petrol tanker in Edo
A truck driving against traffic at the Benin-Ore express road has collided with a petrol tanker at Igueze community, near Ovia River in Edo state.
Blueprint gathered that two persons were severely wounded in the crash after the petrol tanker caught fire as a result of the impact of the head-on collision.
The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) Sector Commander in Edo State, Cyril Mathew confirmed the accident.
Cyril explained that the accident happened at about 7a.m, adding that fire fighters from S and T barrack put out the inferno which was ignited following the crash.
He said one of the vehicles involved in the accident drove through one-way, and in the process rammed into an coming vehicle.
According to the Sector Commander, “the vehicle immediately caught fire. But one of the victims who was trapped was rescued before the fire spread.
”Three persons were involved in the accident and those who sustained injuries were taken to the hospital,” he added.
