Tragedy in Benue as Dangote Truck Crushes Three to Death

A tragic road accident has claimed the lives of three people in Luga, a suburb along the Gboko–Aliade road in Benue State, after a Dangote truck reportedly lost control and rammed into them.
Eyewitnesses said the victims — two brothers and another young man — were standing by the roadside when the speeding truck veered off its lane and crushed them on the spot.

The incident threw the entire community into mourning as residents and passersby gathered in shock.
One witness described the scene as horrifying, saying the impact of the crash was so severe that the victims died instantly.

It was a very sad sight. The two brothers were on their way home when the truck suddenly lost control and hit them,” the source said.
Angry youths in the area reportedly blocked the road to protest the recurring accidents involving heavy-duty vehicles, particularly those owned by Dangote Group.

It took the intervention of security operatives to restore order and clear the highway.
As of press time, authorities have not released the identities of the deceased, while the truck driver is said to be in police custody for further investigation.

Residents are calling on the Benue State Government and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to enforce stricter safety measures and regulate the movement of heavy trucks within residential communities to prevent future tragedies.

This heartbreaking incident adds to the growing number of road accidents involving articulated vehicles across Nigeria, sparking renewed calls for corporate accountability and road safety reform.
