Three people have been confirmed dead in Asakio, Nasarawa State when an old building collapsed in the main market.

The victims, two women and a child, were from the Lafia Local Government Area of the State.

The incident happened Monday afternoon, stopping all commercial activities in the market. Eyewitnesses described a chaotic scene as rescue efforts were underway.

Two others were rescued from the debris and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The tragedy has deeply affected the local community, Daily Post reports.
