In the early hours of Monday, January 26, 2026, a harrowing incident unfolded in the Rantya area of Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State, Nigeria. Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers stormed the residence of Engr. Apollos Samchi, the Managing Director of the Plateau State Water Board, and abducted his three daughters in a violent nighttime raid.
Residents in the Dumac Suites neighborhood were jolted awake at about 12:53 a.m. by the sound of gunshots echoing through the once peaceful community. A distress call was reportedly made shortly thereafter, alerting neighbors and nearby security operatives to the dangerous situation.
Masked assailants forcefully gained entry into the Samchi family home and whisked the three young women away into an uncertain fate. They have been identified as Nanlop Samchi, Kyenret Samchi, and Favour Samchi.
During the attack, the family’s security guard, Benard Makjwan, attempted to defend the residence but was shot in the stomach by the gunmen. He was rushed to Bingham University Teaching Hospital in Jos, where he is currently receiving medical treatment.
