THINK PIECE: Who Really Protects Their Own—North or South?

Let’s rewind to 2014-2015: Back then, President Goodluck Jonathan, a leader from the South, tried to remove a Northern Governor Shettima, and the Northern bigwigs weren’t having it.

Senator Tambuwal, who was the Speaker of the House, stood his ground and said NO. Attorney General Mohammed Adoke also pushed back with a firm NO.
Hon Minister SAN Turaki backed him up, stating: “Mr. President, you don’t have that authority to remove or suspend an elected governor not even a councilor.”

Now, let’s jump to the present day Nigeria…

A Southern President (Tinubu) looking to remove Fubara, another Southern Governor. And what did we see?

The Southern Senate President gives a thumbs up. Southern Attorney General Fagbemi SAN gives his approval!

So here’s the million-dollar question 🔥: When the chips are down, which region really has each other’s backs? Who’s playing the political game smartly?
Who’s safeguarding their political power and influence?
